Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9th July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Gridrive, Inc. collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with the Gridrive website, the Gridrive Excel add-in, and related services (together, the "Services").
Gridrive is an Excel add-in for tracing formula precedents and dependents. The add-in runs entirely inside your Excel workbook: it does not require an account, and it does not send your workbook contents, formulas, values, or any other spreadsheet data to our servers or to any third party.
The Gridrive Excel Add-in
All add-in functionality — including precedent and dependent tracing — is performed locally on your device using Microsoft's Office JavaScript APIs. The add-in does not collect, transmit, or store your workbook data outside of Excel. The add-in's application files (the code that runs the task pane) are served from our website hosting provider when the add-in loads; like any web request, this involves standard technical information such as your IP address being processed by the hosting provider to deliver the files.
Preferences you set in the add-in, such as custom keyboard shortcuts, are stored by Microsoft Excel on your device and are not transmitted to us.
Information We Collect
Information you provide on our website
If you join our waitlist, request support, or otherwise contact us, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and the contents of your message.
Technical information
When you visit our website or when the add-in loads its application files, our hosting infrastructure may automatically process standard technical information such as IP address, browser or client type, device information, and timestamps, as is typical for any web service. We use this information to operate and secure the Services.
How We Use Your Information
- Operate, maintain, and secure the Services.
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
- Notify you about product updates and availability if you joined our waitlist.
- Send product news or marketing communications where permitted by law, and allow you to opt out where required.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to train AI or machine learning models.
How We Share Your Information
Service Providers
We share information with vendors that help us operate the Services, such as our website hosting provider and the database provider that stores waitlist submissions. These providers process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or the integrity of the Services.
Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you would like your information deleted — for example, to be removed from our waitlist — contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it promptly, subject to limited retention for backups, security, legal compliance, or similar legitimate business purposes.
Your Rights and Choices
Access, correction, and deletion
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. You may also be able to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us using the information below.
Marketing communications
You can opt out of promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link in those messages or by contacting us directly. Even if you opt out of marketing messages, we may still send you service-related communications.
Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we will take steps designed to provide appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers of personal information.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page and take any other steps required by applicable law.
